An Improv Artist's Tips for Novelists: Letting Your Story Surprise You

Esteemed editor and writing consultant Dr. Jodi Egerton brings her years of improv stage performance into this interactive writing workshop. You'll be on your feet learning techniques to break through blocks, ignite ideas, and surprise yourself with creative output. Using the essentials of improv, Jodi introduces new ways to approach the page and imagine your stories. From unique brainstorming activities to diving deeper into characters, Jodi combines her expertise in writing and play into a half day that will inspire and rejuvenate your craft, and send you home laughing!

Jodi Egerton offers workshops, editing, writing, and mentoring services as Write Good Consulting. Jodi has her Ph.D. in English from the University of Texas at Austin. During her years at UT and as an Assistant Professor of English Writing and Rhetoric at St. Edward's University, Jodi taught classes focusing on

 writing strategies for small businesses, social media writing, magazine writing, and analyzing comedy. Jodi also works as a performer, and can be found on stages around Austin, Texas performing improv comedy and emceeing fundraisers for schools and non-profit organizations.
