Port of Oakland hosts a
makers' table at the Eat Real Festival

This year marked the Port of Oakland fourth consecutive year participating in the Eat Real Festival.The Port hosted a makers' table in the Kids' Zone where kids and their families made their own miniature models of the iconic Port of Oakland cranes and Harbor Tour puzzles.

Coastal cleanup at East Creek Slough brought out 113 volunteers for a great day. Volunteers came from Matson, Brothers on the Rise, Weiss Associates, Women's Transportation Seminar and the Port of Oakland. Thank you all for making the shoreline better for people, wildlife and nature.

 
 
 
 
 
Port of Oakland celebrates National Trucker Appreciation Week

Hundreds of harbor truckers had lunch on the Port of Oakland during National Trucker Appreciation Week. The Port recognized drivers with a fair at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park. Drivers met Port staff and marine terminal representatives. They also learned about grants to finance newer, cleaner trucks and technology to help cope with Port traffic. More than 6,000 drivers work in the Port hauling containerized cargo in and out of Oakland.
 
 
 
 
 
West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project (WOEIP) Yard Party

The WOEIP celebrated the Summer of 2015 with friends and neighbors at the Annual Yard Party. The WOEIP is our proud partner on the Port's Maritime Air Quality Improvement Plan, helping us set our goal of improving air quality by 85% by 2020 and helping us achieve an improvement of 72% to date.
    
 
Port of Oakland receives leadership award for LGBTQ diversity

The Port of Oakland was selected by the East Bay Stonewall Democratic Club to receive its 2015 Corporate Leader Award. The award is given to organizations that demonstrate a commitment to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) diversity in the workplace. The ports of Oakland, San Francisco, and San Diego formed an LGBT Affinity Group within the California Association of Port Authorities (CAPA) in 2013.

Steel Rail Public House celebrated its grand opening in Jack London Square! Temoor Noor, Steve Sparkes, and Effie Speigler created Steel Rail as a welcome place for the entire community, to eat, drink, share and unwind.
