Let's Celebrate Some Accomplishments
Governor's Honors Program
2015 Winner Callan Russell

It's extremely difficult to encapsulate my four weeks at GHP in one short paragraph. You would never believe how much could happen in one month; from seven concerts (almost two a week), class everyday (except Sundays), to spending basically every waking moment with the same group of friends, it is impossible to get someone to grasp the brilliance of the program if they have not experienced it themselves. However, I can tell you that it was the best summer of my life, that I met some of the most passionate and intelligent people I have ever met, and that the memories from my four weeks at GHP will most definitely last a lifetime. I was challenged musically as a music major, academically as an agricultural science minor, and socially as I was thrown into an environment I was not used to; and I wouldn't change a single thing about it. I feel so incredibly blessed that I was able to attend GHP. If I could tell you one thing, I would say that if you are passionate about any area, apply for the Governor's Honors Program. Every area of the program is incredible and I have yet to meet anyone, from any major area, who has anything but positive things to say. It is most definitely worth your time and an experience of a lifetime.
CHOA's VolunTEEN Program
Bailey Foster

This summer, I was able to be a part of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's VolunTEEN program. After completing an online application, paperwork, an in-person interview and training, I began volunteering at the Hudson Bridge Urgent Care center. I was really lucky to get to be a part of the program, because it's very competitive-out of over 200 applicants, only 80 were accepted! The doctors, nurses and staff were amazing to work with and I looked forward to seeing them every Monday. just a few of the things I got to do were help patients with arts and crafts, organize and stock supplies, make decorations and most importantly give back to my community. Most of my favorite memories from this summer were from my time at CHOA, and I am already looking forward to returning next year!
