Don't miss our May 5th event on embodiment
Join us in June for our Season Finale with Malidoma Some
|
Dear Jung Society of Utah guest,
On May 5th
we host our local speakers Erin Geesaman Rabke and Carl Rabke to the Jung Society on May 5th. Join us to learn
how embodiment can deepen presence. See the second text block for more details, and read a Jung Society blog post about embodiment in the "Notes of Interest" section.
We initially had scheduled for May 5th the Psychopath Nation with Aaron Kipnis, however this event has been postponed to later this year or early next year.
Be sure to plan ahead for the exciting Season Finale with African shaman Malidoma Some, scheduled for June 24-26.
We also need some volunteers to help us with: the website management, membership management, book sales at the event, CEs, and bookkeeping. If you are interested in one of these tasks and want to learn more about it, then contact Machiel Klerk at machielklerk@hotmail.com

Distinct from the approach of living and healing that is based primarily in intellect and language, the living territory of embodiment, as beautiful, wild, unpredictable and vibrantly alive as the wilderness, offers vast untapped wisdom that can benefit not only individual healing and evolution but that of our world. As we re-center ourselves in the living experience of embodied aliveness, new possibilities emerge, along with an empowering way of knowing, being, and moving in the world.
Erin Geesaman Rabke and Carl Rabke have each steeped in wisdom traditions and embodied practices for more than 20 years. Trained as Embodied Life Teachers, Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioners, yoga instructors, tai chi players, and long-time meditators; Carl also works as a Structural Integrator. They bring a wealth of embodied knowledge and teaching experience which they are dedicated to sharing with others.

Embodiment:

Yellowing and the Stone: Fermentation and the Goal of the Opus

Erin Geesaman Rabke and Carl Rabke met in their early 20s when they both worked at the Oasis Cafe. In their first conversation they discovered that they had both been walking very similar paths-including practicing in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and studying Tai Chi and Yoga. After a few years of being close friends, they got together as a couple. Their love of embodied practices has been a shared passion all throughout their 20 year connection. They answer some questions below about embodiment and why it matters.
What is embodiment?
Embodiment invites a different relationship with our bodies-a rich one, indeed, where the body is no longer regarded as an object, but an intimate, living process. The body offers us a gateway to presence, as long as we're alive.
Embodiment includes awareness of sensation, feelings, thoughts, and environment in a not-purely-mental way. Being embodied doesn't preclude conceptual thought, but offers a grounded infrastructure through which we can have a different relationship with our thoughts. Embodiment is mindfulness not as a mental practice, but as a lived experience. "I'm here. I'm resonating with what is, and I'm aware of it."
