Please join us in welcoming John Eckstrom as SHELTER, Inc.’s new Chief Executive Officer. John is a former CEO of Haight Ashbury Free Clinics, Inc., a San Francisco-based organization whose mission is to provide primary care, substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling to homeless and low-income individuals in San Francisco.

During his time with the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics, Inc., John steered the organization to a new level of success, developing and expanding two out-patient service centers, increasing its annual revenue 50% and creating a new strategic vision for integrated health services.

"I am honored to be joining SHELTER, Inc. and its talented team of dedicated individuals. My years of experience working with the homeless in San Francisco have prepared me to take on this new and important role of ending homelessness in Contra Costa County. I'm looking forward to leading this great agency towards another 30 years of excellent service to our community,” said Eckstrom.

Prior to Haight Ashbury Free Clinics, Inc., John worked in the technology sector where he held multiple director positions, was responsible for developing complex strategies, taught at UC Berkeley and raised venture capital funds.

John is a musician and a resident of Contra Costa County .
