Moms, music, and the magic of making things top our list of fun in Longmont for May!

May 8 is Mother's Day and there are plenty of fun activities to help you celebrate mom. A Mother's Day Tea is offered at Thompson House Inn and Tea Room May 6 & 7 and at the Historic Hoverhome May 7. On Sunday, treat mom to a delicious brunch at one of the many amazing restaurants around Longmont or an afternoon performance of Spinphony, an electric pop baroque string quartet, on the lawn at Village at the Peaks.

Looking for more live music?  You can find live local/regional talent almost any day of the week at our breweries and restaurants. Check out our events calendar to see what is happening during your stay.

If you prefer music from days gone by, then check out the Longmont Symphony Pops series which features "The Golden Era of Silent Films" May 14 and enjoy the fun of silent films from yesterday. Or head down to the Longmont Museum, for the Bach in Longmont May 15 performance of "Romanticism Unveiled," where extraordinary artists unveil the Blue and Gold piano that traveled from Amsterdam to the Front Range. Audiences will hear a straight-strung piano and natural horn in some of the most moving musical works from the Romantic period.

The first ArtWalk of 2016 will be held Saturday, May 21. Downtown Longmont businesses will be transformed into art galleries and the streets will be filled with live music, art demonstrations, kids' activities, and tasty food and drink.

The Longmont Museum's summer exhibit, " How People Make Things",   runs May 21-September 11. In this hands-on exhibit, kids and adults alike will have fun using real factory tools and machines to create objects using four manufacturing processes.  Please see more details in the "Featured Event" article below.

STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL ANTIQUES & COLLECTIBLES SHOWRAWBERRY FESTIVA
May 21-22, 2016
Boulder County Fairgrounds
One of the SVHS' flagship and longest running fundraisers is the Strawberry Festival Antiques show held every May--directly after the weekend of Mother's Day.  The name Strawberry Festival was given to commemorate the Strawberry Festival of 1871-marking the dedication of the newly erected Library Hall by philanthropist Elizabeth Thompson.

Join us for the 45th annual antiques and collectibles show featuring 80+ dealers in high-end antiques and collectibles from around Colorado and out-of-state. The show benefits The St. Vrain Historical Society's efforts of historic education and preservation in Longmont.

Today, the Strawberry Festival has developed into a community tradition. Guests can enjoy BBQ sandwiches as well as Strawberry Shortcake with freshly whipped cream donated by the Longmont Dairy. Admission is $5, children under 12 are free.
