You are never too old to learn something new. I have recently celebrated my 20th year in the hairdressing industry. In the eighth grade, my guidance counselor told me hairdressing was not a
good profession. He said I should pursue a career more academically recognized. I listened to everyone's opinions about the negativity of hairdressing for a while until I finally followed my gut instincts. This was to pursue my passion; Hairdressing.
Though it hasn't always been easy, I've been having a ton of fun.
Early on, I learned to find a role model and learn from their success. One of those role models included Sally Hershberger - most memorable haircut - Meg Ryan. Inspired by this, I went in search of excellence and by role modeling people like Sally, I was able to speed up my success. Looking back, I am proud of what I have accomplished and
thank everyone who has helped make my dreams possible - most importantly, my loyal clients.
Last month, I went to Chicago to see Sally Hershberger
demon
strate her signature
technique in front of 2500 hairdressers. The energy in the room was extrinsic and I came back more enthusiastic than
when I began my career 20 years ago. She is now entering a new phase of her career, which is teaching and s
haring her expertise with other stylists. I will be one of the first to attend an intimate training session with Sally Hershberger in New York. I look forward to sharing, with all of the staff and clients at Onaré, what I learn. Also, I hope to inspire confidence in everyone I meet through hairdressing. One of the many things I have learned from Sally, is that the people in Top 10% of their field never really think they have reached their maximum potential because the only place left to go, is down.
