The  Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce Nominating Committee is now accepting  from the membership names of members to be considered as Candidates for nomination to the Board of Directors.

Government Affairs Conference 
& Chamber Day in Raleigh
Wednesday, May 4th
$150 per person
Depending on # of people going we will be carpooling to Raleigh.

Schedule of Events:
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.: Lunch & Panel Discussion with Attorney General Roy Cooper who will sit down with Capital Tonight anchor Tim Boyum for a discussion on issues impacting business community of NC. We will also hear from Ted Abernathy, Managing Partner, Economic leadership LLC and Christopher Chung, CEO, North Carolinas's Economic Development Partnership.

1:30-5:00 p.m.-Opportunity to meet with our local and regional representatives.

5:15 p.m.-Government Affairs Conference; hear the legislative priorities that impact you and the statewide business community from House and Senate leadership.

Member's Reception immediately following the Government Affairs Conference.

Deadline For 2016 ESBY Award is Friday!
 
The Outer Banks is rich with entrepreneurs, home-based businesses and small businesses that comprise a significant part of our local economy. To celebrate those individuals and businesses, the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2016 Entrepreneur & Small Business of the Year (ESBY) Awards.
 
Four awards will be presented this year:
  • Solopreneur
  • Home-Based Business (3 or less employees)
  • Small Business of the Year (10 or less employees)
  • Small Business of the Year (11-50 emplyees).
All nominations are judged by an independent judging panel comprised of a collection of various business leaders from around the nation. Fellow business and self-nominations are encouraged and past nominees may re-apply. Previous winners are not eligible.

Applicants Criteria:
* Be a member in good standing of the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce and have been in business in the area for a minimum of two consecutive years (since 2014).
* Demonstrate a commitment to the community and describe your ability to overcome obstacles.
* Complete the application questions regarding business history, keys to success, communitiy involvement and more. 
 
Businesses can nominate their own company or another company. Deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m. April 29, 2016

Tuesday, May 3rd is National Teacher Appreciation Day
 
Would you consider posting something on your business marquee thanking teachers for what they do?  "Thank you Teachers" or "Happy Teacher Appreciation Day."
