Two Important Meetings in May
The San Leandro Unified School District will be hosting two important meetings in May that we encourage families and community members to attend.

The first meeting is the Facility Improvement Planning Meeting, where the facilities and building improvement needs of the district's aging neighborhood elementary and middle schools will be discussed:

The following week, the district will be hosting the annual State of the District Address, where Superintendent Dr. Mike McLaughlin will speak about the 2015-16 school year and the wrap-up of the district's three year Strategic Action Plan.

LCAP Update & Budget Available For Review Starting June 2
A draft of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) annual update and the 2016-17 budget will be available for inspection starting June 2, 2016.

To view the LCAP draft and/or the budget in person, visit the School District Office located in City Hall at 835 E. 14th Street, Suite 200 between the hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm. Additionally, a link to the LCAP draft will be available on the SLUSD website homepage starting June 2. 

You may provide feedback to the LCAP draft and/or the budget in writing or by attending the June 7 Board of Education Meeting. 
New K-12 Math Curriculum Approved

At the April Board of Education meeting, the trustees unanimously approved the adoption of Eureka Math by Great Minds, which will serve as the math curriculum across the district for all grades starting with the 2016-17 school year.To read more, click here

Summer School Registration Still Available
Registration for Summer School is still open -- click on the links below to view grade-specific course catalogs (information on how to register is contained within each course catalog). 

The registration deadline is Friday, June 3, 2016.  
Around the District

Garfield Elementary held a Food & Fitness Fair on April 20.
The SLHS 4X100 track team took 1st place at the Mt. Sac Relays in mid-April and set a PR of 41.7 seconds. 
The SLHS Notables  won gold in an adjudicated choral performance through Worldstrides Heritage Festival. The group scored so high that they were invited to participate in a special festival at Carnegie Hall during the 2017-18 school year. 
Washington & Roosevelt Elementary school students joined together on April 15 to participate in the GLSEN Day of Silence, a day to honor those who have been silenced or mistreated due to their differences.
Bancroft Middle School & Madison Elementary held their School Smarts Parent Academy  graduations in April. For more information about the Parent Academy, click here
