Village of Clarendon Hills Update

June 30, 2014
Starting tomorrow, the new refuse contract will be in effect for residents. The majority of details can be found at this link.  However, a number of implementation issues have been resolved since the contract was approved on June 16th.  As a reminder, the yard waste and recycling programs are unaffected by the changes.

Time Frame for implementation: Starting tomorrow no refuse stickers will be required and residents are allowed one bulk white good item per week. In early August, residents will be receiving the new 95 gallon refuse can.

Other Options: After delivery of the refuse can, residents will have the option to request a 35 gallon can or a 65 gallon can.  To get an idea of the can sizes, Republic Services has on display the various can sizes at Village Hall.

Senior Discount: Households headed by residents the age of 65 or older will be eligible for a $3 per month discount.  To apply contact Republic Services at (630) 964-3232.

Have old refuse stickers? The new contract no longer requires stickers for extra garbage bags. Through the end of the year, these stickers can be used in place of yard waste stickers. If preferred, starting July 1st, old stickers can be returned to Village Hall for a refund until August 15th.

Republic Services vs. Allied Waste: There has been some confusion over the name of our new garbage contractor.  Republic Services is the name of the contractor, however Allied Waste is the name of the legal entity named in the contract.  For all effective purposes, they operate as the same company currently.

Thank you for all the feedback we have had from residents since the contract was proposed in early June.  Any further questions can be first directed to Republic Services at (630) 964-3232.  If you are unable to resolve your issue, please contact Zach Creer, Assistant to the Village Manager, at (630) 286-5402 or by responding directly to this email.
