Westland Hires Three New Police Officers, Promotes Four Veteran Officers
Westland, MIThe City of Westland swore in three new police officers and promoted four veteran officers at the City Council meeting on Monday, March 17. Officers Chad Britsol, Matt Allen, and Thomas Rogers were sworn in,  Officers Dave Dinsmore and Pat Corby were promoted to lieutenant, and Officers James Fransisco and Nate Macrae were promoted to sergeant. 
 
Officer Chad Bristol spent fourteen years with the Detroit Police Department from 2000-2014. In his tenure with the Detroit, Officer Bristol received the 2012 Police Officer of the Year award and was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for over 100 DUI arrests in one year.

 

Officer Matt Allen is a John Glenn High School alumnus. He has spent the past sixteen years with the Inkster Police Department where he held the rank of lieutenant. Officer Allen also received a Police Officer of the Year Award in his time with Inkster. 

 

Officer Thomas Rogers holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Siena Heights University and attended the Detroit Police Academy. Officer Rogers spent fifteen years with the Detroit Police Department, where he also received numerous awards and recognitions.

Sergeants Dave Dinsmore and Pat Corby were each promoted to lieutenant. Lieutenant Dinsmore has served with the Westland Police Department for 20 years, working as a detective for six years, a field training officer, a perimeter rifle team member, and an evidence technician. Lieutenant Corby has served with the Westland Police Department for 22 years, and has worked in the traffic bureau, an accident reconstructionist, and is currently a motorcycle officer and instructor.
Officers James Fransisco and Nate Macrae were each promoted to sergeant. Officer Fransisco has served with the Westland Police Department for fifteen years, and worked with the Detroit Police for three years prior to joining Westland. He has been assigned to the special investigations unit as an undercover officer, and has also been a rifle team member and field officer. Officer Fransisco is also a recipient of the Police Officers Association of Michigan Police Officer of the Year Award.
 
Officer Macrae has served with the Westland Police Department for eight years, and has been assigned as the department's CALEA  (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement) accreditation manager. He has also worked as a motorcylce officer, an accident reconstructionist, and with the traffic bureau.
