We are pleased to announce that Maureen R. Monaghan joined our firm as Senior Counsel in our tax department. Ms. Monaghan's practice focuses on state and federal individual, business and corporate taxation with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, general corporate and commercial transactions, foreign investments in the United States, and structuring joint ventures, partnerships. Ms. Monaghan also has significant experience representing taxpayers in civil and criminal tax controversies, including audits, appeals and voluntary disclosure proceedings involving foreign accounts. As part of her practice, she has represented clients in all phases of civil and criminal investigations for federal and/or state tax-related offenses, including responding to administrative and grand jury subpoenas, plea agreements and implementing tax and other compliance programs. Ms. Monaghan is bi-lingual German/English and fluent in French. Prior to joining our firm, Ms. Monaghan practiced in the international and tax departments of Alston & Bird LLP and the tax and litigation groups of Hodgson Russ LLP. Ms. Monaghan holds a B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University in Economics, a J.D. from Fordham University and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University.
