Relay for Life - This year marks our 13th year of Relay in the Wayne-Westland area!  Join a great cause and help us Finish the Fight against cancer! This year's Relay starts this Saturday, June 7 at 10 am, in Atwood Park located at 33601 Annapolis St, Wayne, MI. The event will run for 24 hours, ending at 10 am on Sunday, June 8.  The Luminary ceremony will be in the evening on Saturday, starting at 10 pm.  

 

 

Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location.

 

-There will be a meeting of the Tax Increment Finance Authority on Tuesday, June 10 at 8:00 a.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36601 Ford Rd.

- The Parks and Recreation Advisory will meet on Tuesday, June 10 at 5:30 p.m. in Westland City Hall, located at 36601 Ford Rd.

 

Compassionate City Meeting - Be a part of Mayor Wild's Compassionate City Initiative by attending their meeting on Tuesday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Friendship Center, located at 1119 Newburgh Rd.  The group will discuss the needs of others within Westland and what resources we have available to make Westland a Compassionate City.  They will also be discussing the upcoming "Compassionate Games" which will be held on July 19.

 

Friday Movie Summer Season - The William P. Faust Westland Public Library kicks off their 2014 Friday Movie Summer Season on Friday, June 13. This summer the library is showing current or contemporary movies that fall under their Summer Reading Program theme: "Fizz, Boom, Read." This Friday's movie is "The Heat." Doors open at 6:30 and the movie will begin at 7 pm. Check out the library's website for more information on their Summer Movie and Summer Reading programs.

 

 

Westland Farmer's Market Held Every Thursday - The Westland Farmer's Market will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. every Thursday in the City Hall Parking Lot, located at 36601 Ford Road.  This is the ultimate site for farmers, growers and producers to sell their own products directly to the public.  Residents now have the opportunity to catch a FREE ride to the market at the following locations and times. *All times are approximate and dependent on weather, traffic, available space, etc.
