Verdant Grove
Nature and the Seasons in Early New England

Sunday, August 10, 6pm
First Parish Church in Newbury

A vibrant program of Early American music circa 1790-1840, including hymns found in early prints from Boston, Newburyport, and New Hampshire. Our concert includes rare Shaker songs from unpublished manuscript sources in Sabbathday Lake, Maine.

Baritone Donald Wilkinson joins the amazing cast of "Verdant Grove."  Don has been a singer with the Camerata for 23 years. He has had a distinguished career of concerts, opera, oratorio, recitals, and contemporary music performances throughout the US and Canada. Don teaches voice at New England Conservatory, Emerson College, and Harvard University. When he's not singing, Don is a dedicated birdwatcher and has lead many birding walks for the Camerata while on tour.  We all look forward to his professional bird summary at the end of each tour!
Daniel - A Medieval Masterpiece Revisited
The prophecies, tribulations, and triumph of the young Biblical hero Daniel, as retold in music from medieval Beauvais. Probably the most powerful and musically evocative of all the medieval mystery plays, our splendid new production conceived by Anne Azma takes place this November at historic Trinity Church in Copley Square.
