Notes from Sunday's Sermon
"HOW DO YOU SEE JESUS?" (Mark 8:22-25)
Speaker: Rev. Robert Lyons of Refreshing Fountain COGIC
Summary by: Pastor Stephen King

When Christ is the center of your focus, all else will come into proper perspective. As we begin to focus upon God, the things of the Spirit will take shape before our inner eyes because all seeing is not spiritual. Some people see, but they are spiritually blind and lack understanding.

Don't believe everything you see-and hear! Even while the preacher is preaching, read the scriptures along with him or her, and learn to study the text after you leave the house of worship. Learn all you can and study all you can because it will mean eternity to you.

When the Lord touched the blind man the first time, the blind man saw men as trees, literally from his perspective. But when Jesus touched him the second time, the man saw clearly from Jesus' perspective. People come to church looking to see the wrong things. Some even hear and believe things the Lord never said or did. They have the wrong focus. They need another touch from God. We need the second touch of the Lord to remove our blindness, improve our focus, and clear our vision.

A Mission-Driven Church

Our Mission...
The Memorial Tabernacle Church has come together by the Holy Spirit for the specific purpose of preaching and teaching the word of God, (the Bible), and about Jesus Christ, God's son, and to proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom of God to the North Oakland Community and its environs; to bring healing to the brokenhearted and deliverance to the oppressed.

Our Foundation...
Fellowship "And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more, as you see the day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Prayer "Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God."

(Philippians 4:6)

" Worship Let us therefore, receiving a kingdom that is firm and stable and cannot be shaken, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship, with modesty and pious care and godly fear and awe."

(Hebrews 12: 28
