Five races were sailed this weekend on Delavan lake during the Midwest Invitational regatta. 28 boats competed in the two day event. Race 1 proved to be a challenge as the wind disappeared during the 4th leg and returned in very light form for the final leg. Brian Brickler and Kevin Brickler sailing the B-18 prevailed at the end of the difficult race. | Brian Brickler with crew Kevin Brickler

After a great lunch the fleet came back out on the water for two more races from an entirely different wind direction. Bricklers kept their winning streak and won race two. John Porter with crew Pat Welscher sailing the B-317 won race number three which completed the first day of racing. While eating some appetizers, the sailors watched the Belmont Stakes to cheer on the horses. After a fun night at the yacht club and for some the inn between, racing commenced at 9:30 on Sunday morning. The sailors were greeted with big breeze and thirds were in high demand. After two general recalls on race number 4, many of the thirds were dropped as the wind started to settle down. Local sailor Greg Gifford with crew Josh Funderburg sailing the D-69 started race 4 in first and extended their lead. They won race number 4. | Greg Gifford with crew Josh Funderburg

The final race had medium breeze and Greg Gifford duked it out with Matt Prange for the race win. In the end Matt Prange with crew Charlie Meier won race 5 clinching the regatta win for the E-111. Brian Brickler and John Porter tied for second with Brian Brickler winning the tie breaker. See full results below.
