The Division for Student Development and Enrollment Management at Hostos Community College (CUNY) recently unveiled a unique team within its Single Stop USA Program, which will expand legal advice and support services to assist students and their families, contributing to the College's retention and graduation efforts.

GEARED TOWARDS FOOD INDUSTRIES

As the food industry continues to be a source of significant employment opportunities in the Bronx and around New York City, Hostos Community College is proud to announce several new programs aimed at keeping the Bronx moving forward.

 

These programs represent a direct response to the needs of area employers that were developed and are currently offered by the College's Division for Continuing Education & Workforce Development.   

HOSTOS TEAMS UP WITH CITI COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO INCREASE
STUDENT RETENTION

Making students understand the value of a dollar makes better students. And making better students who follow through on their commitment to higher education is what Hostos Community College is all about.

Hostos President F�lix V. Matos Rodr�guez is pleased to announce that it has received a $100,000 grant award from Citi Community Development for a pilot program, "Summer Success 101: Student Financial Literacy and Retention Program," designed to empower students financially and also to increase retention and educational attainment rates.

Hostos Community College President F�lix V. Matos Rodr�guez has been named to City Comptroller-elect Scott Stringer's Transition Committee that will help build the foundation for a successful administration. President Matos Rodr�guez joins a distinguished team of New York City's best and brightest attorneys, economists, academics, executives, and other community leaders.
HOSTOS HOLDS BENEFIT CONCERT FOR VICTIMS OF TYPHOON HAIYAN 



On December 6, 2013, the Hostos Community College family raised more than $20,000 through a "Hostos Helping" concert to benefit the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The brainchild of Professor Rees Shad and Jerry Rosa, Director of Student Activities at Hostos, this concert was created through the combined efforts of the College's Student Activities Office, Media Programs, Department of Institutional Advancement, and in cooperation with the University of Santo Tom�s Conservatory of Music in Manila.

Hostos Community College's Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development received an unprecedented four awards, at the Continuing Education Association of New York's (CEANY) annual conference "Scaling Mountains: Forging the Future of Continuing Education" held on
November 7.
ALUMNA OF THE MONTH
RUBY BYAN

When Ruby Bryan won the award for Outstanding Adult Continuing Education Student of the Year at the Continuing Education Association of New York's (CEANY) annual conference on November 7, she said it was a "wonderful surprise."

But two of the Eugenio Mar�a de Hostos Community College instructors who helped Bryan become a registered nurse at the age of 61 were not at all surprised.
