New Improved Tattan Park/H20 Spray Zone to Open Just in Time for 4th of July Holiday

Among the most exciting news of 2014 is the opening of our new and improved Tattan Park and H20 Zone Spray Park!  Beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014 and just in time for the Independence Day holiday weekend, Tattan Park and the H20 Zone Spray Park will open to the public.  Made possible through DDA funding, this nearly $4 million capital investment features several new park pavilions (with electricity) that are available for rent for your family reunion or birthday party.

Also onsite is a 1,000 square foot concession area for which concessions will be available beginning mid-July.  Family friendly restrooms (also available mid-July; in the meantime, porta-johns will be at the park), park benches and improved shade areas are among other amenities you will find in Westland's largest park conveniently located behind City Hall at Ford and Carlson Roads.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the park and spray zone free of charge until August 1 at which time the City will begin assessing a nominal fee for access to the H20 Zone Spray Park.  Fees will be earmarked to offset costs associated with park maintenance and rangers who will be onsite. The City will begin assessing a fee of $3 per resident per visit to the Spray Zone.  Family discount passes will be available.  Non-Westland residents shall be charged a fee of $10.

"I'm thrilled that the long awaited reopening of the park is here;" commented Mayor William R. Wild.  "Tattan Park, home to Play Planet, one of the largest play structures anywhere in the United States, and the H20 Zone Spray Park are among the City's finest amenities;" Wild continued.  "Residents love these parks and for those enjoying their summer in our All American City, I can think of no better place in which to enjoy a warm, lazy summer afternoon."
