November 3, 2014

As we begin November, we celebrate National Adoption Awareness Month. Adoption is the loving alternative for mothers who are not prepared to parent but instead willing to offer the incredible, priceless gift of a precious new life to another family. The CPLC encourages the option of adoption through our Project Gabriel ministry, blessed with the expert help of our Parenting Options Advisor Carolina Salazar, who has 25+ years of adoption counseling experience.

In just a few weeks, we will recognize four graduates from the GEMS (Gabriel Education Ministry & Support) program at our annual Christ Child Luncheon on November 15 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Richardson. If you haven't yet reserved your luncheon ticket, be sure to visit prolifedallas.org/luncheon to do so now. Along with the luncheon, the CPLC hosts a Christmas Gift Market which is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (You don't have to attend the luncheon to shop the market.) Please spread the word about this festive event, proceeds of which benefit the CPLC as well as the White Rose Women's Centers and Birth Choice Counseling Centers for Women.

Also in November is our next quarterly Parish Pro-Life Coordinators Meeting on Saturday, November 8, in the Assembly Room at St. Ann, Coppell, 180 Samuel Blvd, where the Knights of Columbus will have a wonderful breakfast for us beginning at 8:30 a.m. This meeting is not to be missed! We will provide important information about the 2015 Roe Memorial Events on January 17 with Bishop Farrell at the Convention Center in Dallas! We will also welcome two special guests -- Executive Director Jeff Patterson and Associate Director Jennifer Allmon from the Texas Catholic Conference headquartered in Austin will be presenting on the Texas Bishops' legislative priorities for the 2015 legislative session and Catholic Advocacy Day on March 24.  If you cannot be there, please send a representative from your parish.

In addition to these events, please be sure to mark your calendar for:

**And critically important, don't forget to vote tomorrow, November 4.**   In the words of our bishops, "responsible citizenship is a virtue, and participation in political life is a moral obligation." (FC 13). For election and voter information, visit the Texas Secretary of State website, votetexas.gov, or in Dallas County, dallascountyvotes.org. For resources in preparation for voting, visit the Faithful Citizenship website sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop at faithfulcitizenship.org, and please read and share Bishops Farrell and Vann's teaching statement on the moral considerations when voting available at prolifedallas.org/voting.

Finally, on November 26 we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. I found the following prayer that seems to be very appropriate especially amidst today's events of the world.

Christ Jesus, I acknowledge You King of the universe.

All that has been created has been made for You.

Make full use of Your rights over me.

I renew the promises I made in Baptism,

when I renounced Satan and all his pomps and works,

and I promise to live a good Christian life

and to do all in my power

to procure the triumph of the rights of God

and Your Church.

Divine Heart of Jesus,

I offer you my efforts

in order to obtain that all hearts

may acknowledge your Sacred Royalty,

and that thus the Kingdom of Your peace

may be established throughout the universe.

Amen.

Thanks to all of you for your participation in the 40 Days for Life-Dallas vigil which concluded yesterday.  Be on the lookout for a report on all that God did during this special time of prayer and grace.

Thanks for all you do for Life and God bless,

David
