May is shaping up to be a busy month!  We have 3 Knowledge at Noon sessions scheduled including:

The Easter Bunny may have been here in April, but downtown will be hopping in May! This weekend, May 3rd, is Cancer's Relay for Life downtown; May 10th is the Annual Spring Side Walk Sale and Garden Centre openings and downtown will be host to the Heart & Stroke Big Bike; May 16 - 19 is the Canadian Vintage Car Show; Sunday.

Sunday, May 25th check out our 1st Spring Expo! Join us at the Hillcrest Hotel from 10 AM to 4 PM.  Special Brunch available from 11 AM to 2 PM. There are still spots available to showcase your business - Register Now!  
 
Revelstoke Social Development Update!
Get Youth Working

New The Get Youth Working!  This grant program is extended for new hires with a start date on or after April 1st, 2014.  The Get Youth Working! Program is funded through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Agreement. The Program offers employers a $2,800 hiring incentive (up to 3 employees at $2,800 each) to hire eligible youth 15 to 29 years of age. Additionally, employers may request up to $1,000 to purchase training for the newly hired youth.  Click here for the application. 

  

Helping Hand...

Shane Volpatti and Peter Bernacki, two local business men recently opened a trust account to help electrician Chris Miller and his wife Joanne Lachance. Chris suffered a stroke in January, which has left him with serious physical deficits and is unable to work. Friends are being encouraged to help the family by making a donation to the Chris Miller Trust Account No. 334459 at RCU.

Summer Boating Season is coming soon! Canadians are required by law to have proof of competency when operating a motorized watercraft. Check out the  information about the Pleasure Craft Operator Card!

RONA has their Grand Opening for the Garden Center and great deals ready for Mother's Day. There is a Bottle Drive from 9 AM - 2 PM and Bar BQ in support of fund-raising for the 

Grade 7 Columbia Park class's summer Sunnybrae Camp trip. 


Home Hardware Garden Centre opening and Sidewalk Sale!  Join the RCMP & Safety Bear for the Trees for Tots Bar BQ fundraiser 10:30 - 3 PM.  Meet vendors and suppliers and check out Garage Sale items - everything including the kitchen sink!

 

Need to tie up loose ends?
Beginning May 1, 2014 until May 1, 2015 the City will be waiving building permit renewal fees in a effort to encourage applicants and property owners to pursue completion of outstanding building permits.
There is no time like the present to "Git 'R done"!
