Sun., Oct. 26 | 10 a.m - noon | SUMMIT Fest

Celebrated storyteller Makia Malo and newscaster Pamela Young will participate in this month's SUMMIT Fest, a celebration of arts, culture and ideas. Makia and Pamela collaborated on his book, My Name is Makia: A Memoir of Kalaupapa

Diagnosed with Hansen's disease (leprosy) at the age of twelve and exiled to the remote settlement of Kalaupapa, Moloka'i, Makia Malo lost his hands, his feet and his eyesight over the years-but never the vision or spirit that have made him a celebrated storyteller and poet.

Makia and Pamela will be part of the Sunday "Letters" Keynote at 10AM at New Moon Rising (the former Brew Moon space at Ward Center). Day passes to SUMMIT Fest are $75 and include lunch and refreshments. The Sunday pass includes the closing Celebration Party, as well.
