Economic Justice for All Initiative Begins

 

The Joliet Diocese Social Justice Coalition is excited to present to you the latest in our Create A Ripple series. (see below) The most recent Create A Ripple is part of a year long effort by the Coalition focusing on Economic Justice. 

 

We ask you to share this email with your bulletin editor and website manager, asking them to place this information in your parish bulletin and on your website and Facebook page.  Also, please share this information with anyone else in your parish who might be interested in addressing economic justice issues in their ministry.

 

You are encouraged to use this information throughout September.  For the next eight months (except December), you will receive a monthly Create a Ripple addressing a theme related to Catholic Social teaching on economic justice.  The current Create A Ripple may be downloaded here in .pdf, .jpg and .doc formats.  The .doc format will allow you to select portions of the document if you only have space for shorter inserts. 

 

Please ask your bulletin editor to publish/post this information no later than the weekend of September 27 & 28, as the last day to register for the free conference, Economic Justice Touches Everyone and Everything, is Monday, September 29.

Come, learn more about Economic Justice for All: Pastoral Letter on Catholic Social Teaching and the U.S. Economy  written by the U.S. Catholic Bishops nearly 30 years ago and how this document speaks to us about the realities of U.S. economic life today & the global significance of our actions. 

 

Featuring Tom Mulloy, policy adviser in the Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

 

 



Tom advises the bishops on economic, labor, housing, and social welfare policy, and has over seven years of experience in federal policy-making and advocacy.

 

Also, 2014 Catholic Campaign for Human Development grantees will make brief presentations about their efforts to address economic justice.
