US SENATE PANEL VOTES TO DELAY HOS
As previously reported by ITA, the Senate Appropriations Committee voted on Thursday to delay last year's changes to the Hours of Service Regulations until additional research can be done to evaluate the impact of the 34-hour restart limits.
ITA together with our national affiliate, the American Trucking Associations, and other state trucking associations worked together to request the delay until further research could be done. Both Illinois Senators serve on the Appropriations Committee. Senator Mark Kirk voted for the amendment. Senator Richard Durbin voted no, but he did reference the concerns brought forth by the American Trucking Associations in his remarks. For more details, please see Thursday's Email Alert from ITA.
SHAMEFUL AD PULLED BY MAXIM MAGAZINE
Pictured is an ad that was brought to the attention of the American Trucking Associations on Wednesday. ATA's Image Committee, chaired by ITA-board member Aaron Tennant, immediately responded to the ad. Within hours, Pilot and TA truck stops had pulled the magazine from their stores and the ATA sent the following letter to Maxim Magazine (click here).
We are pleased to report that Maxim Magazine has responded to ATA. Maxim Magazine was extremely apologetic and embarrassed. To resolve the issue they will be sending out an apology to the industry and taking the ad off of their digital versions immediately.
Maxim Magazine issued to following letter to ATA (click here). The Law Firm that placed the ad also issued their own apology (click here).
