First UU Congregation of Ann Arbor Votes
To Unanimously Affirm Marriage Equality!

On June 1st, the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor voted unanimously to support marriage equality.  Members this congregation are proud they made this decision and wanted MUUSJN to share their joy with UUs and other people of faith activists around the state. This the first UU faith community in Michigan to affirm marriage equality by congregational vote.

Here's the language that was adopted at a recent congregational meeting:

"As Unitarian Universalists, we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person.  As individuals, we speak out to ensure equal justice for all who live and love in Michigan and beyond. As a congregation, we support efforts to strengthen families and protect children.  As a Welcoming Congregatation, we support an end to discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. And, because marriage is held in honor among the blessings of life, we, the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor, stand on the side of love in support of Marriage Equality."
