We
stland, MI -City dignitaries, department heads and members of the Westland City Council are inviting residents, the press and business leaders to join them in a Groundbreaking Ceremony to inaugurate the construction of Westland's new Ralph Savini Fire Station. With shovels in hand, they will gather at the site of the new fire station, located next to the former Service Merchandise building on Tuesday, June 3 at 3:30 p.m. to kick off a momentous occasion in the City's history.

Upon completion, the Ralph Savini Fire Station will move from the Ford Road location to the newly constructed 11,223 square foot facility.  Ideally located in the heart of Westland's "Shop and Dine" district, this $3.1 million construction is being funded with tax revenues generated by the City's Tax Increment Finance Authority.

"Our Shop & Dine District is in the midst of a much needed economic and community redevelopment," stated Mayor Wild.  "The City's reinvestment is a positive course for business owner's, residents and visitors to follow to ensure the continued growth;" Wild continued.

The result will be a more modern, functional Fire Station with the most up to date technology that will serve the residents and businesses of Westland for years to come.  The estimated completion date is November 2014.

"We welcome everyone to come out and join us for this historic celebration;" concluded Mayor Wild.
