Enrollment is open for the September training sessions to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate and make a difference in the life of a child, and MORE VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED!
CASA of Central Texas advocates for abused and neglected children in the community by recruiting, training, and supporting community volunteers. CASA volunteers are appointed to children who are confirmed victims of abuse or neglect to independently investigate the case and provide recommendations to the family court judge, what is in the best interest of the child. They often serve as the only consistent adult in the child's life.
Free training courses will be starting in early September in both San Marcos and New Braunfels office locations. To apply for training, please contact CASA at (512) 392-3578 or (830) 626-2272, or visit www.casacentex.org.
You can learn more about CASA at a monthly information session, held the first Wednesday of each month at the New Braunfels CASA office, and the second Wednesday of each month in the San Marcos CASA office, from noon to 1 pm.

Become a "thing finder" just like Pippi Longstocking, Tommy and Anika! Park Ranger Craig Hensley will teach families how to Geocache using a handheld GPS. While your family is waiting for their turn, the kids can decorate their own pair of Pippi-inspired socks! Please register online here. Space is limited to the first 10 families that sign up.

Join us in your jammies for a pancake breakfast and a viewing of "The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking"(G). Bring your camera for a fun photo op to hold a horse above your head like Pippi!

Complete the Library Scavenger Hunt anytime during the month of September. Pick up a Scavenger Hunt from the front desk and learn what all the Library has to offer! There's one for every age group! Turn it back in at the front desk and you'll be entered in a drawing to win a $20 Amazon Gift Card. Only one entry per participant.

Keep an eye out for the Library's Pippi Longstocking float in the Bulverde Jubilee Parade! The parade begins at 10am in the Village of Bulverde.

Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park Presents
the FINAL Installment of...
In 1964, "Beatlemania" swept across the nation. The Beatles, with hits such as "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You," dazzled American teenagers. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of "Beatlemania," Lyndon B. Johnson National  Historical Park will host a "Beatles night" of entertainment on
Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the LBJ Ranch.
For this year's final installment of "Movies Under the Stars" the park will screen A Hard Day's Night, the Beatles' first movie, and feature Beatles music by "The Eggmen" from Austin, Texas. The program starts at 6:00 pm when The Eggmen will play the first of two 50-minute sets.
At 8:30 pm the park will show the film A Hard Day's Night. Guests are encouraged to begin arriving at 5:00 pm and bring lawn chairs, refreshments, and blankets. Both children and adults are encouraged to dress up in Beatles clothing and 1960s attire for a chance to win prizes for best costumes.
