FORMER MISS CAMEROON USA
 LARISSA NGANGOUM MAKES HISTORY

Larissa Ngangoum To Represent Cameroon Diaspora at the 2014 Miss Cameroon Pageant in Yaounde July 25

The Miss Cameroon USA Pageant, a Sister Organization to Miss Africa USA Pageant wishes to officially announce the establishment of a great relationship with COMICA, Producers of the national Miss Cameroon Pageant in Cameroon.  Through weeks and months of negotiation and communication with COMICA in Cameroon, it was finally agreed that diaspora representation at the National Miss Cameroon Pageant is important.  This is a great milestone for the Miss Cameroon USA Pageant and its Delegates.  The Miss Cameroon Pageant is a gateway to Miss World Pageant and other International Contests.  Cameroonians in the diaspora love their country and would seize every opportunity to bridge the gap that exists between home and diaspora. We certainly appreciate the help of  Fashion Designer and COMICA representative Kibonen Nfi for her helping to make this happen.

It is a great honor indeed to announce that Miss Larissa Ngangoum has made history as the first Cameroonian from the diaspora (in particular USA)  to participate in the National Miss Cameroon Pageant which is held annually at the Nations capital Yaounde. The Pageant which is organized by COMICA, was founded by its President Mme Solange Amougou  and has been running successfully for many years.  Last year COMICA made history by sending the first Cameroonian to compete in Miss World Pageant. We applaud the efforts of COMICA for the great work in showcasing Cameroonian beauty and talent on a global stage.

The 24 year old beauty, Larissa Ngangoum is in her 4th year in Pharmacy school. She lives with her family in Haggerstown. She is very passionate about education and is determined to instill her success into younger children both at home in Cameroon and here in the United states. She believes education is the key to success.

In promoting education, Larissa teamed up with Youth For Human Rights earlier this year and organized an essay contest for schools in Cameroon. Through her efforts in collaboration with Youth for Human Rights, two children were awarded scholarships this year. The Auction which took place at the Fraser Mansion in Washington DC brought together a diverse group of supporters who are passionate about education as a basic human right.

Larissa's trip to Cameroon will also help her connect with her old Elementary School in Yaounde where she will be launching her project to sponsor under privileged children in the school through Scholarships and donation of school supplies every year.
