What Will Your Business be Worth When you Want Out?
Frday, September 19, 8:15-9:45am
Cornerstone Bank, 54 S. Main St, Lexington

Successful business owners know what their succession plan or exit strategy will be years before it's going to happen.  Building sales is imperative in the early stages of a business, but eventually building the value of the business itself becomes increasingly important.  Whether your exit strategy is in place or you need to develop one, this workshop will help you understand what your business is worth now, what kinds of strategies will add or reduce its overall value over time, and how to monitor and manage business value growth.

Our presenter today is Richard (Dick) Halterman, Business Transfer Specialist with Murphy Business & Financial Corporation. He lives and works in the Shenandoah Valley.

Business Smarts-Lexington is a series of six workshops designed to guide you through an assessment of your business and to identify business strengths and weaknesses, plan for, and implement improvement strategies. The series is brought to you by your SV SBDC, Main Street Lexington, and the Chamber of Commerce Serving Lexington, Rockbridge County, and Buena Vista. Join us!

Learn about the entire series and register here. Fee: $10.

Do you know what your books are telling about your business? As a responsible owner or manager, you need to know the "language of business."
Your business records allow you to monitor cash flow, track deductible expenses, prepare financial statements, and support your tax returns.  In this workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of basic bookkeeping tasks and how to use your chart of accounts. You'll learn to record and match revenues & expenses, record receipts & disbursements, handle end-of-period closings, and read financial reports.
This seminar is not software-specific and can apply to any manual or computerized accounting system. It is an excellent foundation course for QuickBooks training.

These classes are co-taught by Henry Reeves, CPA, Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and founder of QB Financials, LLC. and Susan Steele-Ward, CPA of PBMares LLP . Thanks to our partners at the accounting firm of PBMares, LLP for the generous use of their training room.
