K MA Community Connectors
Finding a Focus
in Photography and in Medicine

When Danesh Mazloomdoost, MD, sees the challenges of his high-stress field of pain management medicine as insurmountable, he picks up a camera.

Peering through the lens of his camera gives Dr. Danesh, who minored in photography while at Case Western Reserve University, a more centered focus.

"When I've engaged in the arts, I feel like it makes me more acutely aware of the subtle beauty we see every day," he said. "Connecting with the aesthetics, with the abstract, it allows me to connect with the purpose, the mission of why we're here."

Participate in Brief Survey on Domestic
Violence Mandatory Reporting Law

You are invited to take part in a research study related to the Kentucky law that mandates reportage of domestic violence (spouse abuse). The study involves a brief, online, anonymous survey that is being completed by licensed physicians. Its purpose is to gather information regarding their experiences with and views of the mandatory reporting law. The results of the study will be reported in the aggregate to those seeking ways to improve clinical practice and the protection of victims.

KMA Legislative Podcasts Keep
You Up to Date on 2016 Session
Advocacy efforts by KMA and its members led to success as the House last week passed Senate Bill 17, which would prohibit the state from requiring initial board certification or recertification in order of physicians to obtain or retain their medical license. The bill now heads to Gov. Matt Bevin for his signature.
