While facilitating a recent session on how to have an engaged board of directors, it was clear, yet again, how nonprofit leaders often struggle with identifying and attracting the right people to join their boards. Not only do you need to find someone dedicated to your organization's mission, but the board candidates must have the skills, expertise and interpersonal skills necessary to round out your board of directors. Also very important is that they want to join a nonprofit board. One option to add in to your recruitment strategy is to use LinkedIn Board Connect. Read below for a description of this process.

Most people are familiar with LinkedIn serving as a platform dedicated to helping people leverage their personal contacts for professional gain. What seems to be less known is that LinkedIn can be a great source for seeking out qualified, appropriate new nonprofit board of director members for virtually any type of agency.

 

Nonprofit leaders often find that looking for board members can be a time-consuming and often frustrating experience. Launched in 2012, LinkedIn's service, LinkedIn Board Connect, aims to help streamline this recruitment process.
