Cerebrovascular Specialist Joins Marcus Neuroscience Institute

 

Shaye Moskowitz, MD, PhD, Leads Cerebrovascular and Neuroendovascular Surgery Program

 

Officials at Boca Raton Regional Hospital's Marcus Neuroscience Institute recently announced the hiring of cerebrovascular specialist Shaye Moskowitz MD, PhD. Dr. Moskowitz will join the organization on September 15 and Boca Raton Regional Hospital serve as Director of Cerebrovascular and Neuroendovascular Surgery. In that capacity, he will spearhead the Institute's treatment of aneurysms and vascular disorders of the brain.

Healthcare Roundtable Announces Venue for Fall Program 

 

Coral Gables based FHIcommunications, producer of the Healthcare Roundtable series, recently announced that Park Shore Pharmacon in Hallandale Beach will host the September program.

 

Entitled Women in Healthcare: Healers and Leaders, the event will take place Tues., Sept 30, 2014 from 7:30-9:30 a.m.  Described by Event & Conference Coordinator Mercedes Palacio as "provocative and timely", the program

will feature five remarkable female physicians. They will share their stories of the challenges overcome and comment on the opportunities that lie ahead as women in medicine make their mark on the industry.

Fort Lauderdale based Campbell Foundation awards grant to The George Washington University in Washington D.C. 

 

Researchers hope to identify HIV biomarkers

 

One of the major challenges in the battle to eradicate AIDS has been the inability to target dormant HIV viruses. To do so, scientists need to learn about the specific characteristics, called biomarkers, of the cells that carry these dormant/latent viruses so that during treatment uninfected "bystander" cells are not killed as well.

 

Researchers at The George Washington University have been working toward identifying these biomarkers, which they believe to be the first step down the road to finding a cure for AIDS.

 

The Campbell Foundation in Fort Lauderdale, FL is pleased to announce it has awarded scientists at The George Washington University a $79,375 grant to help further this groundbreaking research. If successful, it could open new avenues for better pharmaceutical interventions in the quest to find a cure for AIDS.
