We all know the saying, "April showers bring May flowers..." That being said, after all the recent April showers, May should be bursting with blooms. That's not all that is bursting. At JFCS we are bursting with pride and appreciation for all that you, our volunteers, do each and every day. Though I say it all the time, we at JFCS truly could not do what we do - move our mission forward - without the support, energy and talent of our 900+ volunteers.

Your formal invitation to our annual Volunteer Appreciation will arrive in your snail mailbox soon. You are in for a treat at Sebastian Joe's in Linden Hills! Just let us know you'll join us. RSVP to our hotline at 952-542-4879 by Friday, May 23.

Get a sweet start to summer and join us as we celebrate your contributions this year!

Share your time with an older adult

Through JFCS L'Chaim Senior Services, there are many ways you can brighten the day of a senior in our community:

  • Be matched as a friendly visitor to share coffee and conversation, play a board game, run errands or go on an outing.
  • Help someone organize their closet or living space.
  • Drive a senior to an appointment. We always need more drivers! Our new, flexible RideScheduler program makes it easier and even more convenient to volunteer.
The time commitment is always flexible and based on your schedule! To get started or for more information, contact Deb Savitt at [email protected] or 952-542-4859.

Volunteer as a mock interviewer for Career Services clients

Interview

JFCS is looking for volunteers to meet with clients and conduct mock interviews. Volunteers work one-on-one with a client conducting a professional interview, then providing feedback. JFCS can offer a list of sample questions and ideas for structured feedback.

The ideal volunteer will have a managerial background or experience with the hiring process. The time commitment is an hour and can be set up at your convenience. All volunteers will be asked to dress professionally.

To volunteer or for more information contact Orin Rubin, IT Career Preparation Specialist, at [email protected] or 952-417-2114.
