October is Breast Cancer awareness month at GMS

One in eight women will be affected by breast cancer in her lifetime, and more than 80% of women have no known risk factor.  Men get it too at significantly lower rates. Nearly 6,200 Virginians will be   diagnosed with breast cancer annually, and more than 1,100 are taken from us by this disease each year.

is a grassroots organization committed to the eradication of breast cancer through education and advocacy. GMS Gymnastics and the Battlefield Booster Club have donated $35,000 to VBCF and continue to support the fight against breast cancer. GMS Gymnastics hosts an annual gymnastics competition , The Flip for the Fight  invitational to help raise money for VBCF. This year will be our 6th year! The invitational will be held at the NOVA field house from February 20-22 2015. This year we will be hosting Boys and Girls Gymnastics teams from all around the nation. The competition is a great way to show your team spirit and support a great cause. Mark your calendars for this year's Flip for the Fight invitational.

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month GMS will be honoring loved ones who have suffered from the illness.  Breast Cancer is an illness that has affected our close family members and friends. This month, we will be dedicating a page on our web site to those family members or friends who would like to see their loved ones honored.

Please send information to gmsgymnasticsinfo@gmail.com. Please provide us with the names of the individuals you wish to see honored.

GMS Celebrates NGD
Thank you to all of the GMS families who participated in National Gymnastics Day on September 20th! As some gymnasts celebrated at the gym, a select group celebrated on Washington St.in Haymarket ,Virginia, at Haymarket Day. By participating in the Parade, gymnasts and parents help increase awareness for health and fitness in the community. Thanks to our team and recreational gymnasts, we had over 78 gymnasts and 18 parents who walked with us to promote NGD. Thank you everyone who made the event so special and fun! We look forward to your participation next year! Our photos made it to the USAG website! Click here see the other entries!

Team News
GMS Team Junior's and Seniors

We want to recognize our upperclassmen for the 2014-2015 school year. We are so proud of these gymnasts for being able to juggle training, homework, social lives, college prep etc. Year after year, these girls have proven to show dedication and drive as they worked their way up through the levels. Not only are these girls great athletes and students, some of them work and serve the community through participating in various clubs. We want to congratulate them and wish them luck as they begin their journey towards the next phase of their careers. Way to go girls.
