St. Paul's Church

July 31, 2014

"For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you."   Isaiah 41:13

Dear St. Paul's,

Robin Hanson, Director

Summer vacation is almost over but the children of St. Paul's and many of their friends will have the  opportunity to participate at Survivor Camp next week. It is a very unique camp based on the TV series "Survivor", but filled with God's Word.  Marianne Day, Marjie Hoder and I will lead the children as they

engage in new experiences and attempt daily challenges. They will come to realize that as long as God is with you there is nothing to fear.  (Sounds an awful lot like life, doesn't it?)  The child who accumulates the most points during the week is declared the "Soul Survivor."  They win an awesome t-shirt and $50.00!

This year we are filled to capacity with a record 24 children who will be participating!  Many of the children are returning for a second or even third time.  They are all very excited and looking forward to new challenges and experiences and, of course, some of their favorites.  I asked the children what they were most looking forward to and here are some of their answers:

Adam & Zach
Zach says "The rope challenge is my favorite."
Wyatt
While his brother Adam insists "I like the rope challenge and kayaking the best."
Wyatt agrees, "Kayaking, it is my favorite thing at camp!"

Madeline
Madeline couldn't decide, "I like the beach, kayaking and the pool."
While last year's winner, Wally Hoder, when asked what he was looking forward to, he simply said, "WINNING!"

Wally - 2013 Winner,
Marianne & Robin

So if you are in the neighborhood next week, stop by the Surf Club and see how these 24 children fearlessly reach out and grab God's hand as they face "Surviving" each day.  AWESOME!

Gratefully in Christ,

Robin Hanson, Director

Children & Family Ministry
