New Advising Walk-in Hours
The OISS is preparing for a busy spring, and in order to better serve the population, we have implemented a new schedule of Advising Walk-in Hours.

Advising Walk-in Hours, as of Monday, March 10:
Monday
2pm-4pm
Tuesday
10am-12pm
Wednesday
2pm-4pm
Thursday
10am-12pm
Friday
10am-12pm
During the advising walk-in hours, students can speak with an advisor about any questions they have without making an appointment, and it will be first come, first served.  If it is determined that you need more attention we may set up an appointment for you.  If you know your situation is complicated, please call the office and individual appointments can be made during office hours.

Office hours are still 9am to 4pm, and during this time, you can drop off and pick up documents and obtain travel signatures.

Conversation Partner Program

Networking Social
The CPP is a program designed for international graduate students to practice their conversational English. On February 4th, the OISS organized a speed networking social for conversation partners to meet other program participants. In addition, the activity gave international students a chance to practice introducing themselves and making "small talk," which is very common in the English language and American culture.
Boston Celtics and Red Sox Games
The OISS organizes events for the BC International Community

Celtics Basketball Game
On Wednesday, January 29th the OISS organized tickets to see the Celtics play against the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden. International assistants, students, conversation partners, and scholars and their families were all in attendance. Unfortunately, the Celtics lost but the game was enjoyed nonetheless!
Upcoming Event: Red Sox Baseball Game!
The OISS will host another Red Sox game on Tuesday, April 8th, where the Red Sox play the Texas Rangers. Tickets for this event are sold out!
Spouses and Families events

Upcoming Event: Spring Social
Co-sponsored by Grad Student Life and the OISS: Thursday, April 10th from 3pm to 5pm in the Murray House. Come experience a traditional "Easter Egg Hunt." Children are welcome!

Children's Music Group
This group met for the first time on Thursday, February 27th and will meet every other Thursday from 10:30am to 11:30am in Carney 206. Children are invited to sing along as well as occasionally play some musical instruments.
Mahtab Sirdani, the spouse of an international PhD student, is leading the group with the help of several undergraduate volunteers.

Valentine's Social
Creating valentines and decorating cookies were the theme of this heart-filled event on February 7th, along with an explanation of the traditions and history of Valentine's Day. Red roses anyone? Thank you Grad Student Life for co-sponsoring this event at Murray House!

English Conversation Group
Designed for practicing English, this group meets every other Wednesday from 10:30am to 11:30am on the 2nd floor of Corcoran Commons, beginning on Wednesday, March 19th. We will discuss a variety of subjects including things to do in Boston, observations on American culture, and family life, etc. Please join us and bring ideas for other topics!
And don't forget to join our Facebook group!
