News and Reflections from Farmer Tom
Cover Crops, not just for soil!
Elisa and I took last Saturday afternoon off to enjoy a father-daughter moment on the farm - just the two of us. First we had to visit "Granny," one of our female goats who just 2 days prior birthed triplets. All three kids are healthy, taking turns suckling, and "mom" is patient enough to let them be held and cuddled. After getting our fill of playing with the goats we decided to pack a snack and go picnic by the pond on the upper portion of the farm. It is one of our favorite "get-away" spots... Rebecca's Recipes
Greetings! Spring has certainly sprung in all its vibrancy. This is the time of year for rejuvenation and new beginnings. The produce is just in harmony with that. I like to take the time to cleanse from the winter months, especially from some of the "not-so good " eating habits. Detoxing the liver is an important part of that. Our livers are our bodies main de-toxifier, blood filter, and primary fat metabolizer. So eating healthy, clean foods helps us to love our liver and detoxify. All of the food from the farm supports this and keeps us in balance. We are so blessed to have this gift and are able to rejuvenate every week! My wish is these recipes will get you inspired and stay healthy and strong! Blessings for a joyous week filled the celebration of health! Chard Quesadillas Easy Carrot Muffins

Seeking Pick-up Location in Palo Alto
During the last Regular Season we had to stop our downtown pick-up location at Vino Locale, a convenient location for many years. We'd like to deliver to a second location in Palo Alto, ideally around the downtown or University area again. If you, friends, or a local business, church or organization in the area might be interested to host a pick-up location, please let us know. There are a few responsibilities that come with it but also some nice perks. Please email the office at farmers@cruzio.com if you can help us with this. Thank you!

Follow up on CSA Delivery Schedule Changes

Thank you for all the feedback we've received so far about the consolidation of our San Jose and Peninsula area deliveries into a single Friday delivery day. Our members are valuable to us, and learning how this kind of change impacts the lives and schedules of the membership is very helpful for our understanding of and connection to our community. With eyes now wide open, we regret that we did this backwards and solicited input and feedback after the fact instead of before we made the decision.
The primary reason for this consolidation was the fact we needed to acknowledge a difference in how members were signing up, along with a reduction in our membership since its peak in 2010 - 2011 when we were more actively adding pick-up locations and decided to split San Jose and Peninsula deliveries into two days.
We admittedly waited longer than we probably should have to decide to consolidate deliveries since it was not an easy decision to come to. And the lack of more and earlier notice, a major oversight on our part, only made the situation more challenging. Please be assured we have come up with procedures to address prompt and clear communications about such changes going forward.
Based on the feedback so far, we are working to see if we can offer an alternative delivery day to Thursday (for us) and Friday (for you). We are still collecting and taking feedback into consideration, and should have a decision made and any change in place by mid-May. Your flexibility as individuals and as a community is much appreciated during this period, and we will keep you more closely informed of our progress on this issue.
