Hazard Mitigation Program Officer

The Maryland Historical Trust (MHT), an agency of the Maryland Department of Planning, is the State's historic preservation office, dedicated to preserving and interpreting the legacy of Maryland's past. We are currently seeking a Hazard Mitigation Program Officer to develop a technical assistance and funding program for local governments engaging in hazard mitigation and disaster planning for cultural resources, with a special emphasis on areas affected by sea-level rise.

 

Working closely with the Chief of the Office of Preservation Planning and Museum  Programs, the Program Officer will develop and administer a federal subgrant program to provide assistance for disaster planning and hazard mitigation planning; develop model guidance to facilitate planning and implementation; develop educational materials related to planning best practices; and provide training and educational programs on sea-level rise and disaster-related topics.

 

This is a twenty-four month position and may require occasional evening or weekend meeting attendance. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and public speaking skills as well as the ability to create and foster positive working relationships.
