The University of Tennessee-Knoxville will host a training session for prospective QPR trainers on Wednesday, September 24, within room 204 of the college's Student Health Building, located at 1800 Volunteer Boulevard in Knoxville.

This session will provide participants with the skills needed to present the QPR suicide prevention program to the general public. Upon completion of the training, participants will be certified as QPR Gatekeeper Instructors for 3 years. (More information about the QPR program is available on the TSPN website.)

The cost of registration is $525, which covers the cost of training materials and a boxed lunch to be served during the session. (However, the cost will drop to $425 if we can get more than 10 people to register.) No discounts or scholarships are available to cover the registration fee.

The program will run from 8 AM to 5 PM. It should be noted that participants must attend the full session in order to receive accreditation as QPR trainers.

Interested parties should register online via Eventbrite (https://qpr092414.eventbrite.com); the deadline for doing so is 4 PM Central on August 29. If your agency cannot register online and needs an invoice instead, contact the TSPN central office at [email protected]. Any requests for general information should be directed to [email protected] as well.

We encourage you to sign up for this training session at the next possible opportunity so that you can bring life-saving information and resources to the people in your community and the state of Tennessee.
