Catarratto Extra Lucido Luchido refers to the specific variety of this native Sicilian grape which has a glass like skin that you can see though. On bright moonlit nights the grapes themselves appear to glow.

There are many reasons to not only love this wine but the winery itself. Valdibella is a co-op of the best kind: a group of six friends and neighbors who decided to pool their resources, skills, and talents with the (seemingly simple) goal of producing really good wine. Grown from vineyards not far from Palermo, the wines reflect the new style of Sicilian winemaking, with an emphasis of brighter fruit, vibrant texture and acidity, and a palate-thrilling focus and cut.

The wine is beautiful combination of ripe yellow peaches, fresh pear with earthy flavors of bitter almond and toasted nuts. Like many Mediterranean whites this has a lemon fresh acidic that refreshes the palate without dominating.

When paired with Catarratto Extra Lucido, the clean, lactic qualities of the Garrotxa strike harmony with the fresh pear and toasted nut notes found is this week's wine.
