Limited Submissions Becoming Common, Expanding: Chronicle of Higher Education

As Rutgers faculty members and our research staff have observed, limited submissions for many federal and foundation grants are becoming more common. According to a Chronicle blog, which offers good advice, that trend will continue. At Rutgers, we use subject experts as well as deans and department chairs to make recommendations to the Senior Vice President for Research and Economic Development as to which proposals move forward. The Request for Applications or Request for Proposals process is critical to determine the quality of the internal pre-proposals. Read more here.

NSF Improving Undergraduate STEM Education Program Workshops

The NSF has launched a new program titled Improving Undergraduate STEM Education. It's designed to address the immediate challenges facing undergrad STEM education. These workshops, which are intended for all STEM faculty members who are interested in NSF educational proposals or already have a funded project, will run Nov. 6-20 at the CoRE Bldg., Busch Campus. CDDA Open to All Rutgers Researchers for Data-Science Collaborations with Industry

If you're interested in partnering with industry on funded research in any aspect of data science, the NSF-sponsored Center for Dynamic Data Analytics (CDDA) at Rutgers is available to help. By providing a framework of academic and industrial researchers, and assistance with corporate outreach, CDDA is a great alternative to traditional sponsored-research agreements. If you have a project proposal that requires corporate sponsorship through a combination of funding and data sets, contact James Mielke to learn how the CDDA can help. Also, a few seats remain open at CDDA's Fall Workshop and IAB Meeting Nov. 4-5. Read more here.
