| 2014 Fast Trackers Celebrate |
|
This past Monday, 24 members and guests enjoyed the Fast Tracker 9-Hole Scramble at Woodcreek Golf Club. This tournament was the final "lesson" of the 10-lesson series for the 13 Fast Tracker participants. Several of the 11 volunteer mentors were on board to lead the teams and help them with course management.
The competition was fierce, as six teams fought for the first place prize of a 9-Hole round of golf at Woodcreek. Even the last place team got a prize: home-grown grapes that were not sour and tomatoes that were not rotten!

After playing, everyone gathered at the 19th hole for food and festivities. Fast Track Leader Clare Payne presented each of the eight Fast Trackers in attendance with a certificate and a gift that one just cannot have enough of - water balls!
In a surprise move, the class led by Nancy Lyons and Mary Lou Azevedo actually left Clare speechless. You might see a little tear in Clare's eye as Nancy gives her a gift certificate and card signed by all the 2014 Fast Trackers. Mary Lou presented each volunteer mentor and Laura Espinoza (Clare's volunteer assistant) with a sleeve of balls. So what is a graduation party without cake? Yummy chocolate cake for all - what a way to end the day!
Congratulations Fast Trackers! A special thank you to Clare, Laura and the mentors for your time, expertise and dedication!

Darkhorse Play Day Results

It was a Train Wreck! Yes, 15 players tried not to have one but Tyra Jarvis was the one who figured out how to prevent a wreck by ending up with 27 points. For her efforts, she was the recipient of a round of golf at Darkhorse.
Winning the scramble competition with a score of 77 was the team of Deanna Frandsen, Carol Wilkenng, Fern Lukka, and Shelley Van Drimmelen.
But the most fun was watching these cute little critters play "hide and seek".

| Volunteers Needed for 2014 State Fair Junior Championship |
Several of our members have volunteered for this tournament in past years and have really enjoyed the juniors. The tournament will be held August 23, 2014 at Haggin Oaks and volunteers will keep score for the 7-11 year old players.
The time commitment for volunteers will be from 6:45 AM to the conclusion of the nine hole round. If you are interested in helping, contact Tom Marks at [email protected] or (916) 397-3027 by August 16, 2014. |

| 2014 46th Annual Sacramento County Women's Championship - Registration Ends Today |
There's still time to register for the 46th annual Sacramento County Women's Golf Championship at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday August 2 and 3, 2014. The registration deadline is July 25, 2014.
The tournament is open to all female amateur golfers with a current USGA handicap index. The entry fee is $135 per player. For more information or to register online click HERE. |
Yes, it's that time of year again. Around August 1st expect to receive a request for nominations from the Nominating Committee, Chaired by Sonya Bradley. If you have ever considered volunteering for a Board position, perhaps this is the year to STEP UP!
