Legislative Update

This week the House and Senate took steps in advancing HB 1478 and SB 770, legislation to require stricter abortion clinic inspections and more accountability.


HCS HB 1478 was voted do pass in the House Health Care Policy Committee, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 and now moves to the Rules Committee before moving to the House Calendar for debate.

SCS SB 770 was turned in to the Senate, April 10 by Senator Dixon, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee.  SB 770 is now on the Senate Calendar for Perfection for April 14.

MRL St. Louis Chapter Meeting, May 7, Features Guest Speaker Mason Weaver

MRL St. Louis chapter will meet on May 7th at 7:00 pm at the St. Louis County Library, Florissant Valley Branch at 195 New Florissant Rd. Florissant MO 63031 and 314-994-3300. (not to be confused with West Florissant Ave. further east on 270) The guest speaker will be author and commentator, Mason Weaver. Mason has gone from a radical Black Panther in the turbulent 1960's to a noted author and speaker on issues including the family, personal responsibility and the sanctity of life. Bring your seat belt---Mason doesn't pull any punches and he's not afraid to name names!

National Right to Life Hosts Annual Convention

The National Right to Life Committee will host their annual pro-life convention this year in Louisville, Ky on June 26, 27 and 28th.  Come join this 3-day national meeting of the pro-life advocates. It is the best place to learn, grow, and get energized to take a stand for life!

Girl Scout Affiliate WAGGGS at UN Calling for Sexual and Reproductive Rights

Every Girl Scout in every council across the United States is automatically a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).  Girl Scouts USA makes up the largest member organization of WAGGGS and donates $1.5 million per year to WAGGGS.  Listen to WAGGGS representative speaking at the United Nations recently calling for universal access to sexual and reproductive rights.

Pro-Life Around the State

April 12, St. Louis - Jericho Walk, 11:00 am at Planned Parenthood, 4251 Forest Park Blvd.  Spend one hour to pray for the end of abortion in our community.  Bring a friend!

 

April 18-19, St. Louis - 24-Hour Prayer Vigil, vigil will begin on Good Friday morning at 6:30 a.m and end on Holy Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m.  To sign up for two hours please email Mary at [email protected].  

 

April 28, Columbia - Mizzou Students for Life will host a talk by Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King. 7:00 pm, Jesse Hall, University of Missouri. Free and open to the public!
