PERSONALIZED LEARNING
AT MILTON HS
|
Milton High School is beginning the work associated with the district's Personalized Learning initiative. There will be many components involved with this work. A large part of the initiative will be communication and information. Beginning next week I will be posting a weekly blog that will hopefully give the Milton community more insight as to where Milton is heading and the many facets to this exciting initiative. I look forward to sharing this journey with our teachers, students, and community!

FRESHMAN FLIGHT INFORMATION
|
Please take some time and watch "Habitudes Made A Difference In My Life" by Growing Leaders:
|
Habitudes Made A Difference In My Life |
I am excited to give you an update on what your students have been learning with the Habitudes curriculum that we began using last semester. Habitudes are images that form leadership habits and attitudes. Habitudes has been an integral part of our Freshman FLIGHT curriculum this year and our students have had the opportunity to learn what is means to lead themselves through:
- The Iceberg: "The iceberg represents your leadership. The 10% above the water is your skill. The 90% below the water is your character. It's what's below the surface that sinks the ship."
- The Starving Baker: Leaders must find ways to not only feed others, but also feed themselves for personal growth.
- Golden Buddha: Leaders take time to identify their personal strengths and gifts. When they do, this "shapes their self-image and results".
- Thermostats and Thermometers: "Leaders develop personal values and principals to live by and set the tone for others."
- The Fun House Mirror: A student's "level of integrity is a true reflection of who they really are."
- The Oversized Gift: "Leaders who rely solely on their gift and neglect their character can sabotage themselves."
We are excited to announce that we will continue to use Habitudes through March. These conversations around leadership prepare your students for their high school journey, as well as life after the classroom!
Freshmen students who complete the Freshmen FLIGHT Habitudes program will be eligible to apply for Eagle Leaders as sophomores. This is unique as Eagle leaders are typically juniors and seniors.
Thank you for your continued support of this program.
