The weeds will be separated from the wheat
Matt. 13:24-30, 36-43

Our lesson for this Sunday starts, "He put before them another parable:  'The kingdom of heaven may be compared to someone who sowed good seed in his field but while everybody is asleep the enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and then went away.'"

Consider the weeds as the evil influences we

experience.  Mixed in with our good productive thoughts there may be negative ones.  For instance we may judge our neighbor for what he does or says and neglect to consider our own sin.  We should never be the judge.

Some of our Brotherhood of St. Andrew members go into Wayne Scott Prison every week.  They work with inmates caught up in an evil world, men that have grown-up in a world full of weeds.  The good seeds are so buried it takes outside help of convicted Christians to discover them.

In three weeks time the Brotherhood of St. Andrew's members will culminate their prison ministry with a week-end retreat.  Perhaps 150 inmates will come to hear our men witness, as well as well-known speakers from the outside.  They will inspire the Holy Spirit's presence in these men. We can fight evil too by praying for this retreat.  We too can reap wheat and eliminate the chaff.
