Convention and Deanery Delegates
 Needed

Resurrection needs to elect 3 members as delegates to the annual Diocesan Convention who will also attend Deanery meetings to represent our Parish. At present, the Central Deanery meets every other month on a Saturday from 10 am to noon and rotates meeting locations around the deanery.  Please contact Bill Carle or Fr. Lynch if you are interested in serving in this important ministry.
Shrove Tuesday

Bring your family to Resurrection on Tuesday, February 9th and enjoy a delicious pancake supper before the season of Lent begins.  We'll be serving up pancakes, sausage, bacon and drinks.  Details will be announced soon!

Shrove Tuesday originated during the Middle Ages.  To keep food from being wasted, families would have big feasts on Shrove Tuesday in order to consume those items that would inevitably become spoiled during the next forty days. The English tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday came about as a way to use as much milk, fats, and eggs as possible before Ash Wednesday began.

Did you save your palm fronds from last year's Palm Sunday?

Bring them to the Shrove Tuesday pancake supper and join Fr. David as he leads a brief service at 7:30 pm to bless and burn the palms.  The palms are a reminder of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem.  The ashes symbolize death and remind us of our mortality.  The ashes created at the burning of the palms will be used in our Ash Wednesday services.

Father David comments on the recent Primates' meeting in Canterbury

Some have asked me what the decisions that were made in Canterbury mean for us in the Episcopal Church, and here at Church of the Resurrection.  Fr. David Lynch

Obviously, it remains to be seen what effect, long-term or short-term, these actions have on us, but there will be no change in normal church operations, nor in ministry in Christ's name.  We remain members of the Anglican Communion, even though officially sidelined from the inner workings of Communion governance for three years.

New Outreach Ministries

The Malawi Project
The Outreach Committee is announcing two new efforts to reach those in need.

First, Pill Bottles for Malawi.  In this very poor African nation, hospitals and medical facilities often have to wrap small quantities of pills in paper to send them home with patients because they have no pill containers.  Resurrection is asking you to bring your empty SMALL prescription pill bottles to church and they will be sent to Malawi for distribution.

Second, for all you travelers out there, we are beginning to collect hotel soaps and other freebies in a Save Our Soaps (SOS) effort.  The Necessity Pantry will happily make use of these items.

Both the pill bottles and the hotel freebies are being collected in a continuous process in a labeled double-decker trash container in the Outreach Room (where BackSnack supplies are kept - next door to the Children's Chapel).
