Your Prayers Are Requested for Ron and Arlene Romaine
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear family of faith,
As you may know, Ron Romaine has been battling a serious form of conjunctivitis (a.k.a. pink eye) for several weeks. His eyes have both been very swollen and red, preventing him from working and driving. While caring for him, Arlene contracted the disease - first in her right eye and now in her left. She has a severe form which has caused a significant amount of swelling in her face, and her right eye is completely swollen shut. She went to an eye specialist, who told her that she is highly-contagious and she could possibly be out of work for up to a month. She returns to the doctor next week to be reassessed.
As a result, several of the activities and events that Arlene conducts have either been rescheduled, suspended or will be led by someone else. Please see below for more information. In the meantime, please keep Ron and Arlene in your prayers as they recover. You can follow their progress on their Facebook pages.
Don't miss the 2nd Annual Touch-A-Truck hosted by the Packanack Cooperative Nursery School. Children, parents and grand-parents are invited to meet local first responders and climb all over the heavy rescue equipment while also enjoying activities such as face painting, crafts, games and balloons. Last year's event was highly attended and very successful.
Come and give your kids an opportunity to meet our rescue heroes before an emergency occurs so that, when it does, they will feel comfortable and not be afraid.
Please note that the Church Office will be closed this coming Monday for Columbus Day. Have a great weekend, everyone!
The Service Faire Is Coming!!! Save the Date: November 22, 2014
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Attention everyone! The Packanack Clubhouse has been booked for Saturday, November 22, 2014, for our next Service Faire. What is a Service Faire? It's a fundraiser for our church in which we auction off goods and services for the community.

We would like as many people as possible to participate in the event. There are many ways in which you can contribute. You can help run the event by volunteering to be an auctioneer, a runner, a money handler, bringing baked goods, and many more jobs to fill. You can also donate a good or service to the auction. Maybe you can offer a trip to the airport, or to do some yard work for someone, or the use of a summer home that you could lend for the week. Maybe you have tickets to a sporting event or play that you could donate. These are just some of the ways in which you can donate your time and/or treasure to help us raise money for our church.

Please give prayerful consideration to how you can participate in this event. To volunteer and/or donate, contact Lauri Masur at [email protected] or Barb Bogert at [email protected].

Thank you for helping us make this event a success!

Angels Calling Charitable Gift Program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Throughout the year, the PCC "Angels Calling" Program has strived to turn our "hearts and minds toward the One who has called us to serve."  We have joined together to care for others with needs. Did you know that the support of five Wayne families has touched lives of a diverse group of people, including: newborns through grandparents; single parents; those with disabilities; unemployed with determination to work; those strapped for childcare; those having difficulty meeting rent and car repair payments; and a family whose flood zone home was bought out, and now is faced with renting rather than owning a home.
The five Wayne families have received clothing, food, home goods, toys/games, school supplies, diapers and other baby items from our church members. In addition to periodically providing these items at holiday or seasonal times, Angels Calling has responded to emergency needs in between. The program has also provided emergency food support during a crisis situation to other families in the Wayne area.
In addition, Angels Calling is looking ahead to the Thanksgiving season and would like to gather food items specific to family needs. For instance, paper products, school snacks, nonperishable items for dinners, clean up items, and more. Gift cards for a food store or Walmart can be put toward this goal. Your donation makes a difference and will certainly be appreciated by our Wayne families!
Keeping with tradition, Angels Calling will continue to provide Christmas gifts for our Wayne families through the Wayne Township program, and also through the Salvation Army program. Information will be available in November after Sunday Worship services.
Donated items can be dropped off on the stage in Simmons Hall. Cash contributions can be mailed to the church office or mailed directly to Leslie Mozulay at 8 Old Fourth Drive, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438. Checks made payable to "Packanack Community Church" with a MEMO indicating Angels Calling, always make a difference! If you'd like to personalize your donation for a specific child, please contact Leslie Mozulay at 551-795-1453. Thank you to all of you supporting Angels Calling, a caring community outreach program.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Each month, a group of volunteers is needed to assist the office staff with collating the Bell newsletter, stuffing the envelopes, and getting it in the mail. It's a great opportunity to do a little work for the church, make some new friends, and have some fun at the same time.

The next Bell Helpout Date is Wednesday, October 22, at 10:00am in Room 10.

If you can join us, please contact Kerry at [email protected] to let her know you are coming. Thank you for your assistance.
Plan Ahead for the Bell Deadline

Please note that, due to administrative changes in the church office and delivery delays at the post office, the monthly Bell newsletter has a firm deadline for any announcements that the congregation may wish to place in it. Announcements and flyers received after that date will not be included until the following month. If you would like to let the congregation know about an upcoming event, please plan ahead and make sure that you submit the announcement on time.
