Midlands Gives on Tuesday, May 6th
Help Magnify the Midlands with PAALS

On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, the Central Carolina Community Foundation is sponsoring the first Annual Midlands Gives Day. The goal for this day is to raise as much money for Midlands nonprofits as possible in a 24 hour period. The event will start at 12:00 AM and go through 11:59 PM.

PAALS will be at Cromers Cafe (1700 Huger St.) from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM on this day so come visit with us, socialize, make a donation and receive a free cup of drip coffee or a fountain drink.

Even if you can't make it to Cromers, you can still help MAGNIFY PAALS on this day by donating online. Your contribution on this day could be magnified by helping PAALS get a larger share of the bonus pool contributed by local Midlands companies and organizations. Plus there are various special prizes at different times during the day.

For more information about Midlands Gives, click on the logo above. You can learn  more about the event and how to donate to PAALS here.

Look for another email in the wee hours of the morning on May 6th with a specific link for a donation to PAALS. This email will also have any late breaking news on how you can help MAGNIFY PAALS during this 24 hour period.

The donation link will also be featured on the PAAS website all day on May 6th.

Seven Days to Goodbye
A New Book by Sheri Levy

After Trina's beloved dog dies, she swears she'll never get another one. But then she learns about service dogs, and realizes that if she becomes a Puppy Raiser, she could train puppy after puppy and never worry about them dying. But like all great ideas, this one has a serious flaw: her first service puppy must be returned to his kennel at the end of their week-long summer vacation on Edisto Island... and saying goodbye to Sydney is going to be much tougher than she ever imagined.

This is a brief description of Sheri's new book, Seven Days to Goodbye, which will be released this summer. Sheri has consulted with PAALS for years on this children's book and plans to donate some of the proceeds to PAALS.

You can learn more about Sheri at her new website..

Quotation of the Month

"Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you've had everything to do, and you've done it"
Margaret Thatcher (former British Prime Minister)
