Volunteers of the Year
Madi Pfaff and Keith Frair
At the Volunteer Holiday Party following the Graduation Ceremony, PAALS recognized our Volunteers of the Year. The winners were nominated and selected by votes cast by PAALS entire community of volunteers.
Spirit Award: Madi Pfaff
The Volunteer Spirit Award recognizes individuals or groups who voluntarily perform beyond the normal expectations. They are motivated simply by the accomplishment of the task.
Madi started with PAALS when she was nine years old as a Junior Trainer and has been a Foster PAAL (weekend foster) ever since. She volunteered for Summer PAALS (summer camp) after attending several years as a camper. Madi started the first Service Dog HS club at Chapin High School. She is now mentoring a middle school junior club and spent part of her summer spreading the news about PAALS at ZooCamp with our retired breeder Akira.
Volunteer of the Year: Keith Frair
The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes a person who has a "do-what-it-takes-to-get-the-job-done attitude" and does it with a smile on their face. When we need someone to pick up puppies from the airport, video tape a client test, fix something that broke on the fly, scoop poop, walk dogs, back up a computer, just about anything you can think of, Keith can do and has done. Most recently Keith was nominated to a three person facility committee to help create a facility proposal for a grant due in less than a week. He not only produced a better replica than the architect, but he also rewrote the proposal all while he was supposed to be helping his mom during an out of state trip planned before anyone knew about the PAALS project. Our deepest gratitude goes out to Keith for all he does for PAALS. |
