About PAALS
PAALS is South Carolina 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to enriching and empowering children and adults with physical disabilities and social needs by training service dogs and providing animal assisted educational and recreational activities. PAALS relies on a network of volunteers and private donations to perform this mission. PAALS does not receive any government funding. PAALS is the only Assistance Dog International (ADI) accredited program based in South Carolina.

We thought the day would never arrive, but it has! PAALS is purchasing a new training facility. We close this Thursday, April 23rd. The building needs a lot of work before we can begin using it. With the help of PAALS volunteers we hope to be able to move in this Summer.

PAALS Purchases a Facility

We will be moving to our new location this summer!

For the past nine years, Jen and her family have been kind enough to donate their home for the raising and training of all the PAALS dogs. With the purchase of a building this week, for the fist time ever, PAALS will have a place to call our own! While this building satisfies our short-term goal, we still have plans to build a facility on the property we have, with space for therapeutic programming in the future.  As of this Friday, we need a lot of help in order to get the building ready for use. Included at the end of this e-Pupdate is a wishlist of supplies we need for the building.  Any and all donations are appreciated so PLEASE check the list to see if there is anything you may be able to contribute. In addition to donations, we will need help from volunteers to clean and prepare both the building and the dog yards. We are having a cleaning "fun" day this Friday for those who are able to help. Of course, we'll take the help any time you can give it!

Please email [email protected] if you are interested in helping and we'll schedule a time!
Meet PAALS Newest Puppies!

We recently hosted our first litter for our breeding co-op!

Adler was recently bred with a stud from our international breeding co-operative. We will be keeping three of her seven puppies from the litter and the remaining four will be going to various assistance dog training facilities around the country! Thanks to all who helped during the pregnancy and whelping!

Welcome to our Newest Intern!
The PAALS Family is happy to add Julie to our pack!
We are happy to have Julie with us this spring and summer!  As a life-long dog lover, Julie is currently a student at Columbia College and came to us through an internship with a class. Going forward, Julie hopes to become a service dog trainer herself and we could not be happier that she found her way here!

Applications for the fall internship are now being accepted.

Midlands Gives Day
Save the Date 5/5/15
PAALS is participating in the second annual Midlands Gives Day on 5/5/15. This year we have matching donations from an anonymous donor to match donations made to PAALS. We are also going to focus on trying to win a couple of the "Power Hours" which each have a bonus of $1,000. PAALS will also have some giving stations at various locations and times around Columbia where you can visit, get a coffee or a bite to eat and make a donation.

We would also like to ask PAALS friends to make a special effort to encourage your friends to make a donation to PAALS. You can do this by sharing our Facebook posts and Twitter tweets on this topic. If you need to subscribe to our feeds, you can do so with the icons in the sidebar of this email.

Keep checking the website for updates and new information.
