99 Bottles

Because craft beer tastes good.
July 18, 2014
Beer Tasting
Nearly 8 years ago we opened 99 Bottles specialty beer store. Why did we do it? Craft beer tastes good. There wasn't many beer choices in Southend. We wanted to provide people with a taste adventure -- with the ability to grab singles and mix 6-packs. We wanted to create a place of convenience, with an enormous selection of craft and import beer. And we wanted to give others the opportunity to explore beer.

Thank you for sharing our love of beer. We appreciate you!

We've got what beer drinkers want.
One-Time & Limited Beers
When getting into craft beer, it's hard to imagine why a brewery would make a beer recipe one time... and then retire it. If the beer tastes so good and so many people want it, why wouldn't the brewery make it again... and again...?

Anniversary Beers
An anniversary comes but once a year. Breweries celebrate these special occasions with their fans by brewing up a special, limited beer in celebration.

In store now: Avery Twenty One Imperial India-Style Brown Ale, Deschutes XXVI Black Butte Anniversary, Stone RuinTen, Uinta 21 Anniversary Sour Saison, Snoqualmie Falls Baphomet,...

Collaboration Beers
By partnering with other breweries, brewers are able to explore new directions, merge practices and ideas, and extend their geographic reach. For example, normally you'd need to be an extensive U.S. traveler  to taste the beer of Cigar City (FL), Hill Farmstead (VT), New Glarus (WI), and 3 Floyds (IN) -- through joint-crafted beers you're able to taste their craftsmanship.

In store now: Anchorage / Hill Farmstead Arctic Saison, Beachwood / Heretic / Stone Unapologetic IPA, Deschutes / Distelhauser Conflux No. 3 Doppel Dinkel Bock, Fort George / Boneyard / Block 15 3-Way IPA, Sierra Nevada / 3 Floyds / Allagash / Ashville / Ballast Point / Bell's / Cigar City / Firestone Walker / New Glarus / Ninkasi / Oskar Blues / Russian River / Victory Beer Camp Across America 12-pack, ...

Seasonal & Rotating Beers
Tastes change with the seasons. Heavier foods taste better when there's a chill in the air, lighter foods when it's hot and muggy. The same goes for beer. Fall brings spicy pumpkin ales. Winter brings full, malty, warming beers and barley wines. Spring and summer are crisper, lighter, and more refreshing.

In store now: 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon Wheat, Anchor Summer, Anderson Valley Summer Solstice, Big Sky Summer Honey, Dogfish Festina Peche, Fish Tale Full Blast Blonde, Fremont Summer, Left Hand Good Juju Ginger Ale, New Belgium Summer Helles, Uinta Sum'r, Victory Summer Love,...

Flavorful Beers
Why drink craft beer? It tastes good. Not sure what to try next? Get a one-trip ticket to flavortown -- 99 Bottles has scores of styles and flavors. Mix a pack to try a bit of this, and a bit of that. Check out our flavor chart for ideas.

Beer Flavor Chart

Happy 26th Anniversary, Deschutes!
Deschutes Brewery is about MAKING GOOD BEER!
Of their beer flavors, Deschutes Brewery founder Gary Fish says they "...work together so you have to really dig to identify specific attributes. When flavors work together like that, they create experiences where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts..."

BB XXVI Deschutes Black Butte XXVI
Deschutes' 26th anniversary Imperial Porter was aged in bourbon barrels and dry spiced with Theo Chocolate's cocoa nibs, revealing hints of vanilla and chocolate. Pomegranate molasses and Oregon cranberries complement the robust flavor with a hint of fruit and just enough tart to make you smile.
10.8% ABV (alcohol by volume)

Ingredients:
Malt: Pale, Wheat, Midnight Wheat, Chocolate, Crystal; Hops: Millennium, Cascade, US Tettnang; Other: Theo Chocolate Cocoa Nibs, Pomegranate Molasses, Cranberries; Barrel-Aging: 6 Months in Bourbon (50%)

Release Date: June 27th, 2014 at the brewery; July 17th at 99 Bottles
First come, no holds. Limited Quantities (Brewed Once)

Doppel Dinkel Bock
Doppel Dinkel Bock This third Conflux Series brew from Deschutes Brewing features a collaboration with Distelhauser Brewery of Germany who have been brewing beer since 1811. The breweries have been friends for more than 10 years and decided it was time to create a beer together to celebrate the relationship. The brewmasters decided on an Imperial Spelt Beer. Spelt is an ancient species of wheat traditionally used to bake bread, but the malty, wheat and slightly spicy flavors of this ingredient combine with very fragrant notes (including bubblegum, clove, banana, and just a hint of citrus), to give this beer a ton of flavors and an outstanding aroma. The result? Doppel Dinkel Bock, a smooth, full-bodied and drinkable beer even at 10.5% ABV.

Be sure to pick up a bottle if you're a fan of wheat doppelbocks like the world-famous Aventinus from Germany.

NEW GROWLERS
Check out our new jugs
Beer Zombie 32oz
$6 empty. Add a fill.

GROWLER FAQ
What's a growler?
It's a refillable beer jug.

What kind of growlers do you fill at 99 Bottles?
We fill clean, glass growler jugs. Any brand. Sizes: 32oz, 64oz, 2L, 128oz.

Why fill only glass?
Our filling station is manually controlled by beer clerks. They need to see the beer during fill to monitor the speed and stop controls.

Sorry, no containers made of metal, ceramic, bags.

How much does it cost?
Most beers start at $5 per 32oz. Fill prices are posted by beer. If you've got a clean glass growler to fill, you only pay for the beer + tax.

If you need a jug, 99 Bottles has a few styles: 32oz Beer Zombie Screw Cap, 32oz EZ Swing Top (almost gone!), and 64oz Screw Cap.

What do I need to know?
Clean your growler before you bring it in for fills. We won't fill dirty jugs; its gross.

Tip: Don't cap the jug until it's all the way dry or you'll get bacteria growth. Remember to clean your cap.

Do I need to drink it the same day?
No. Our station purges the oxygen from the jug and replaces it with CO2. This is the same technology that breweries use when filling bottles. Most beers filled on 99 Bottles's fillers have a refrigerated shelf life of at least 6 weeks.

When can I get a fill?
The growler station shuts down for cleaning promptly at 15 minutes to closing each night. Arrive early enough to order a fill -- SUN 12-4:45, MON 12-7:45, TUES-WED- THU-FRI-SAT 10-7:45.

Can I try before I buy?
Yes. Tasting is available open until 30 minutes to close**. Buy a GROWLER TASTE CARD if you'd like to try before you order a fill. Cards are $9 +tax // gets you 12 tastes & three $1 off fill coupons.

**WA State Law limits you to no more than 10oz beer daily at beer shops. This limit must be applied to combination of Beer Flight & Growler Taste. To aid in legal control, one person named per Growler Taste Card.

**Sorry, no tasting off the fills station during special events (Brewers Nights).
